about the project
This guide began as a project in an honors section of Intermediate Composition at the University of Cincinnati. A class of five students each chose a discourse community within the Clifton area -- the originals were first-year UC students, local restaurants, international students, community service and hobby stores-- to research and develop a synthesis of information to share with the Clifton community.
They focused on conducting research and collecting data that would help determine what information the Clifton public needs to know. From start to finish, it was a three-week project during the summer of 2014. The students interviewed experts, distributed surveys, and performed field research in the community. They then worked to synthesize the information into what you see on this website. Each one developed a personal style, both writing and design, that grew into the respective webpages on this site. At its core, this website is a living, breathing project. It will not end, because the discourse communities of Clifton are endless. |
